How bad is stage 3 kidney disease?

Stage 3 chronic kidney disease (CKD) means that the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is between 30 and 59 milliliters per minute per 1.73 meters squared. An eGFR is an approximate percentage of normal kidney function. So this means that Stage 3 CKD means that kidney function is about 30 to 59% of normal function for a young person.
