91 year old mother has CKD and also has a pacemaker for A-fib. She is now delusional, incontinent, taking her clothes off wherever she is and is confused. Her primary doctor will not prescribe dementia meds because of kidney and heart problems. Why? She needs the help with dementia now.

Many medications used to treat dementia can cause significant problems for patients with chronic kidney disease.  These medications are used to slow the process of dementia but are not generally helpful in reversing dementia.  I suggest that you discuss your concerns with with your mother’s primary care physician (PCP).
