Dr. Spry, how do you interpret this kidney part of a cat scan? KIDNEYS/URETERS/ BLADDER: Left renal cortical scarring. Bilateral ureteral stents are present with left greater than right proximal ureteral soft tissue thickening unchanged. Excreted activity is seen.

The report suggests that the left kidney is scarred.  There are plastic tubes called stents within the ureters.  There is also some swelling of the ureters near the kidneys.  The kidneys are functioning and can eliminate the dye that was given for the test.
