Hi, I am a 36 year old woman and was just advised that my Potassium Level was high at 5.5. I am concerned because I have one kidney due to having a Wilm’s Tumor at age 5. My doctor is having me repeat the blood test next week to get another read on it. I am really concerned that with having one kidney that a 5.5 is really bad.

A serum potassium level of 5.5 milliequivalents per liter (mEq/l) is at the upper end of normal in most laboratories.  I agree with your physician that you should have this retested.  I would follow your physician’s advice.
