I have acute renal failure and I also have type 2 diabetes. Is acute renal failure bad? My number is 47. The kidney specialist said my number for my age should be 75. My age is 47.

I cannot make a specific diagnosis based on the information that you provide.  If your estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is 47 milliliters per minute per 1.73 meters squared, then you have Stage 3a chronic kidney disease once this value is present for at least three months.  If this is acute kidney injury, then you must have follow up testing to determine if this could be a reversible loss of kidney function.  I suggest that you follow with your primary care physician (PCP) for further testing.
