My dad has stage 4 kidney disease. His nephrologist wants him to start the process of the fistula. I’m having some doubts about the procedure. I would like to know if this is the best or worst way to go. He also has a defibrillator and colostomy bag. Can you please help me with this life changing decision?

A fistula is always the best and safest way to perform dialysis.  Dialysis done with a hemodialysis catheter has 50 times the complication rate over a fistula. If a fistula is not possible, then a graft is also better than dialysis with a catheter.
