I am in Stage 4 CKD (20 GFR, 75 years old but very young for my age otherwise) and would like to know if saunas are safe for CKD patients? I have read blogs from CKD patients who say they feel more energetic after using saunas (I’m assuming because of the elimination of toxins and excess fluid build-up from the body). I do not want to do anything that could be harmful but would really like to try this if it is safe.

A sauna should not pose any risk to a person with chronic kidney disease (CKD).  As long as you stay well hydrated before and after sauna, there should be no risk.
