Does someone who had been on dialysis at age 15 with both kidneys removed and had a kidney transplant at age 26 live longer than an older adult who underwent a transplant? What is the normal life expectancy after transplantation?

I am unable to provide an exact prognosis for either situation.  In most cases, younger people have a longer life expectancy, but there are many factors that may have to be considered.  With careful follow up and adherence to medication, kidney transplants can last a very long time.

Data about kidney transplantation can be found on the United States Renal Data System (USRDS) at:  https://www.usrds.org/2016/view/v2_07.aspx
