Dr. Spry, would drinking lots of water on a regular basis help my Grandfather’s creatinine come back down from 3.4 to his baseline of 2.7? My Grandfather doesn’t always drink water all the time. But he does have the ureteral stents inside to protect his kidneys from blockage and mild hydronephrosis present.

Drinking more water would increase your grandfather’s urine production but may not change his kidney function or lower his serum creatinine.  Drinking water may help keep the stents functioning better and reduce the risk of infection.
