A laceration or fracture of the kidney is quite painful and will take 4-6 weeks for the bleeding and injury to recover but the scar on the kidney will be permanent and be present for the remainder of his life. The injury should be evaluated by a urologist to see if any surgical treatment is necessary. Injuries to the kidney can be associated with high blood pressure later in life.
